Ingeniously simple, Briggs award winning Roto Rainers provide an efficient, low cost method of disposing thin slurry and dirty water. Application rates of 5mm or less can be achieved with all models to fit in with dirty water disposal guidelines.
As fluid moves into the boom it starts to revolve, tripping the automatic start mechanism. The revolving boom drives a toothed drum on which a wire rope is wound. By anchoring the rope at the end of the run the machine is pulled towards the anchor and travels along until an automatic stop mechanism puts it out of gear.

• The boom’s low height keeps drift and smell to a minimum.
• The unit has a low energy and low pressure requirement.
• A choice of up to five travel speeds allows application rates to suit conditions.
• 3 models are available (Model 2, 5 and 10) giving runs from 150 to 300 metres and widths between runs of 18 metres to 24 metres.

Pump Sets

A choice of pumpsets is available for the whole range of Roto Rainers, ensuring the pump can be sized correctly for each site. Model 2 and Model 5 pumps are available in 3-phase or single phase version and can pump from 2-6 m3/hr. Model 10 pumps can be supplied with 5.5 kW motors, capable of pumping 12 m3/hr or 7.5 kW motors which can pump up to 16m3/hr.

All Roto Rainer pumpsets are based around the well proven British built Mono progressive cavity pump and the unit is designed to give reliable service with a minimum of maintenance. For example, a mechanical seal is used in place of traditional ‘packed’ seals, avoiding the need for routine seal maintenance.

Standard features include a thermostatically controlled heater for frost protection, a float switch to start and stop the pump automatically, a stainless steel pressure switch gauge which shows the running pressure and stops the pump (if there is a burst pipe, blockage, or if the Roto Rainer has finished the run), a non return valve, and a digital display showing pump status.

Hydrants

Any combination of hydrant assemblies can be ordered, Wright Rain tops, Irrifrance tops 3”, 4”, 5” with any length and size of riser, flanged or plain, any size of bottom section including 160mm and 200mm to fit directly into pipe sockets. Steel can be black, galvanised or the whole assembly hot dipped galvanised.
Drain valves, air valves, non- return valves or butterfly valves can all be built in.

Ranging in size from 50 to 64 metres, All are easy to operate, can be folded by one person in just a few minutes for transport and can be operated with almost any make and size of hosereel.

Efficient

Uniform water application gives far more even crop growth compared to raingun systems.
Using a Briggs boom can reduce water consumption by 20% compared with raingun systems.
High flow rates allow faster retraction enabling large areas to be covered in less time.
Controlled droplet size reduces soil damage. Large droplets can be selected to reduce drift while fine droplets can be used to minimise damage to very delicate crops.
Reduced impact from small droplets also reduces soil capping and soil erosion.
Low pressure operation helps reduce pumping costs and puts less strain on the pipeline.

Tough & Reliable

All booms are made from steel and are fully galvanised which ensures a long life span.
All components are manufactured using modern technology and spares are readily available for any boom we have ever made.

Features
The irrigators can be towed and operated from either end and the option of ‘offset hose feed’ keeps the hosereel pipe in the wheeling, alleviating traction problems.
Semi-automatic locking catches mean that even the largest booms are genuinely one man operation with no lifting or carrying.
Four wheel steering means the boom follows the tractor when being pulled into the row to keep crop damage to a minimum.
There is a choice of Nelson pressure regulated Sprayjets or Rotators configured to suit flow rates and droplet size requirements of the soil and crop.
A choice of blanking plates, raingun mounting kits and end sprinklers give the booms incredibly good versatility.

Why We Use Briggs Hosereel mounted Irrigation Booms:

Designed and built to the same high standards as Briggs larger models, the R18, R24, R30 and R40 mounted booms allow lane spacings of 18 – 48 metres(other widths in between those shown available on request).

For ease of operation the booms are transported on the reel and a fixed hydraulic lift system has been developed to transport the booms safely.

All models give accurate and uniform water distribution under a wide range of conditions, with a controlled droplet size to match the crop.
The booms operate at low pressure (0.6 – 4 bar) and can apply from 14 to 50 cubic metres per hour.
